About Us
I have lived as an expat in two different continents and have managed to work remotely in approximately 50+ different countries since I started my 1st business over six years ago. I’ve been running an online advertising network company (Elev8 Media) — all from my laptop, cell phone, and tablet, while I have been traveling the world.
I don’t have a set apartment, and although I do own a house, I rent it out to other people so that they are the ones paying my mortgage and helping to fund my travels. Heck, I don’t even have an office that I work from and neither do my team members as all of them work from their home offices.
I hate the cold, so I usually summer hop around the globe.
Everywhere I go, I meet great people and sometimes new business partners who end up becoming invaluable parts of Elev8 Media with Media Buys etc.
I encourage everyone at Elev8 Media to travel, or do whatever makes them happy and spend time with their family and friends, and a lot of them do. Some of us travel for week long “breaks” throughout the year, and some of us live out of a suitcase like me. Few of us ever stop working more than a minimum of a few hours here and there during the work week Monday through Fridays.
I’ve been repeatedly asked if I had some sort of guide or checklist for traveling and working the way I do. For first-timers, the idea of adventuring while working can be daunting. There are a lot of details to consider, and I’ve learned a lot from my own trial-and-errors.
The more I thought about it, the more I realized a guide like this for people interested in doing the same, was actually missing out there with other Travel Blogs!
The 4- Hour Work Week was a great inspirational read for me, and I like Tim Ferris books a ton. But what if you want to work more than 4 hours a week? I like working smarter – but not harder than others. I want to work where and how I want, and luckily I have a great business partner that allows me to do what makes me happy!
Now is the time: it’s feasible like never before folks. You can put in a full day’s work, no matter where you are, with a WiFi connection on your travels. If you’re flying across the world, you can work from the moment you buckle in your seat, to the moment you stand up to get off the plane . Most airports will have WiFi to get work done on your down time during your layovers, even if your airplane didn’t have that option. Trust me, people can travel while producing some of the best work in their careers, and the added benefit is that you will grow as a person with every new stamp you earn in your passport.
I don’t really take normal “vacations”. I don’t want to work hard to build a company that makes lots of money, just so I can piss it away and go on huge extravagant holidays. I’m a part of it, and it’s a part of me. This is a marathon and not a sprint, and there will be a winner in the end. Traveling and working allows you to go non-stop. There is no burnout if you make the work and your personal life fun and an overall adventure. There’s no staring at a clock or calendar waiting for the end of work day/weekend/break etc. You’re refreshed at each new work week and new destination, and you can hone your focus, and structure your time so you are a cross functional superstar who never stops learning.
Traveling the World alone is not for the faint of heart, but not everyone has the flexibility that I have as an Internet Company’s CEO/Partner. If you don’t have anyone to go with, don’t let it stop you though. With Social Media, and sites like Linked-In and a network of World Wide potential new clients out there in this day and age, you can almost certainly go anywhere and immediately find people with lots in common.
On the other hand, if you find a partner, traveling can be very rewarding!
It can be by far the most expensive option, but it’s probably the most rewarding and fun. Nothing brings compatible people together like adventure. However, nothing drives incompatible people apart like stress, so be careful. The other thing to consider is whether your significant other will also be working during your travels. If so, that’s a tremendous bonus, and you are very lucky. If not, that can be very hard. The other thing is, if you have a dependent ,with all the added costs, you don’t want to be in a position where someone resents you for constantly working during what they’ve misunderstood to be a vacation. Luckily there are many interesting careers in addition to Internet Guru’s that are now doable remotely (Examples: executive assistant, virtual assistant, translator, designer, tutor, entrepreneur, etc).

Speaking of my better half (girlfriend) – if anyone out there wants to join us for some new world travel adventures, all you have to do is go to her travel companies website and book a spot on some of her future solo or group environment type trips!!!
